Carolina Herrera, a taste in fashion…
“I love the idea of elegance and intricacy, but whether it is in a piece of clothing or a fragrance, the intricacy must appear as simplicity,” says Fashion Designer Carolina Herrera of the aesthetic sense that has driven her during her 17 years as a fashion designer.
Carolina Herrera is a Venezuelan based in New York City sine 1981, throughout the 1970s and 1980s she was named one of the best dressed women in the world. Her empire grew rapidly and steadily and she went out to dress Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis for the last 12 years of her life.
After receiving a positive reaction to a fashion collection, she created in 1980 a “test” collection and moved with her family to New York from Caracas in 1981 and formed Carolina Herrera, Ltd. Salma Hayek, mexican queen of acting
Hispanics are achieving a global success and many of them have broken their own prejudices and have exceeded their expectations, one of these Hispanics is Salma Hayek, a Mexican actress, director, and television and film producer. Hispanics like Salma, are gaining more weight in today’s society.
The actress, who began with small roles in American productions, won this year’s Queen Anthony Award for Excellence in Industry, during a ceremony that was held during Hispanic Heritage month and stars like Penelope Cruz, Selena Gomez and Jessica Alba had a place particularly, as the Mexican actress.
“I don’t believe in the so-called Latino explosion when it comes to movies. Jennifer Lopez doesn’t have an accent. She grew up in New York speaking English not Spanish. Her success is very important because she represents a different culture, but it doesn’t help me. I grew up in Mexico, not the US, and the fact is that there just aren’t any parts for Latin actresses. I have to persuade people that my accent won’t be a problem, but an asset.” (more…)
Gloria Estefan, a cuban star

Her recent production “90 millas” describes her roots as she comes 90 miles away from where she comes but she also holds her roots very close to her, in her heart.
Gloria Estefan, a pop music superstar both in English and in Spanish has never forgotten the island she came from.
She is an artist who likes to be involved in all kinds of events and organizations; from the Oscars to the Olympics she has been part of the most important events in the world.
She has fully penetrated the Anglo market, since she has sold 70 million records but she never renounces to her Hispanic identity. Instead she loves holding on to her roots and making sure that her new productions give Spanish music prestige and popularity worldwide.
One of the things I admire the most of a person is his/her simplicity, that shows how authentic a person can be, it doesn’t matter how famous, how sucessful or how rich we are, it all comes down to what we are on the inside.

Maria Elena Salinas
One of my role models and example would have to be Maria Elena Salinas, she has accomplished to preserve a trustworthy and impressive journalistic career.
Maria Elena Salinas was once labeled by the New York Times “The voice of Hispanic America” as she is one of the most recognized hispanic female journalists in the United States.
Salinas began her career in Los Angeles in 1981, a time where women were not predominant in the journalism business. Her insightful reporting on the impact of daily news to the increasingly growing Hispanic community of Southern California quickly earned her the credibility that would lead to her assuming the anchor chair of Noticiero Univisión in 1987.
